How it works

Clark County says the Weatherization program is free to qualified low-income homeowners and renters. Clark County has partnered with Clark Public Utilities to administer the weatherization portion of the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP).

What the money covers

The program provides energy efficiency and indoor air quality improvements for single-family, multi-family, and mobile homes. Typical weatherization improvements may include:

• Insulating the attic, walls, floor, water heater, and exposed pipes
• Providing ventilation fans, including electric, attic, ceiling, or whole-house fans
• Installing weather stripping and caulking around windows and doors
• Protecting insulation measures through minor repairs
• Tuning up or repairing the heating unit
• Testing for indoor air pollution, mitigating problems, and providing information about indoor air quality

The utility portion of the program provides a grant toward your energy bill.

How to apply

To qualify for weatherization assistance, you must first qualify for the LIHEAP program. To set up a LIHEAP appointment, call 1-855-353-HEAT (4328). During the appointment, tell the intake representative that you are interested in the weatherization program. Your information will then be passed to the county office, which will contact you to schedule a weatherization appointment.

Stand-alone heat repair assistance

In addition to weatherization assistance, the county administers two emergency heating system repair programs: one for electrically heated homes and another for natural gas heated homes.
