Parker County CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) training

How it works

Parker County’s CERT program is a free, 22-hour, all-hazard training for adults age 18 and older. The county says the training equips people to care for themselves, their families, their neighbors, and, if necessary, their community during an emergency.

What the program covers

The official page lists course topics including emergency preparedness, CERT organization, disaster medical operations, disaster psychology, fire suppression and utility controls, light search and rescue, the modern threat environment, and a final exam and drill exercise.

Timing

The county says the basic CERT class is held twice a year, in spring and fall, over two 3-hour Friday evenings and two 8-hour Saturdays.

How to apply

Volunteers must complete a background check and sign up by emailing PCCERT@ParkerCountyTX.com. The county also provides an official form.

What homeowners get

This is training, not a cash benefit. It is aimed at improving household and community disaster readiness.
