Minor Home Repair Program

How it works

The City of Corpus Christi runs the Minor Home Repair Program (MHRP) to help eligible homeowners with critical repairs. The city says the program is a grant, and the application news release says grants are available for up to $25,000. Applicants complete the application online, and city staff also provide in-person help during the application window.

What the money covers

The city’s official materials say the program can cover:

• HVAC systems
• minor structural fixes
• accessibility modifications

The city’s consolidated plan also describes repairs involving the roof, plumbing, electrical, heating, minor structural repairs, and accessible ramps.

How to apply

Applications are completed online through the city’s program portal. For the 2025 application round, the city provided in-person help at La Retama Central Library, 805 Comanche Street, from October 7 through October 21, with the following hours:

• Tuesday through Friday: 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
• Saturday and Sunday: 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Timing and deadlines

The city announced that it would accept applications from October 7 through October 21, 2025. The city’s program page now says the Minor Home Repair Program is no longer accepting applications, so the current status is closed based on the official page.
