Washington County Housing Rehabilitation Program

How it works

Washington County’s official environmental notice says the county will administer a multi-year Housing Rehabilitation program from FY 2025–2029 using Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds and HOME funds. The stated purpose is to extend the useful life, expand the supply, and improve the conditions of affordable housing for income-qualifying households in the county.

What the money covers

The notice says the county may acquire, rehabilitate, and/or dispose of residential buildings within the county. It lists the following rehabilitation activities:

• electrical systems

• safety and security devices and equipment
• other interior elements
• asbestos testing and/or mitigation
• radon testing and/or mitigation
• lead testing and/or mitigation
• ADA improvements

The notice also says work will take place only at previously disturbed sites with existing structures, and that the program will not involve new construction, conversion, expansion, or increases in residential density.

Amounts and matching

The notice gives total program funding, not a homeowner benefit amount:

• Estimated CDBG funding: $2,505,000
• Estimated HOME funding: $2,577,702
• Estimated total project cost: $5,082,702

Timing and deadlines

The notice says the county planned to submit a request for release of funds on or after 2025-10-01. It describes the program as multi-year FY 2025–2029.
