How it works

The Pennsylvania Disaster Recovery Assistance Program (DRAP) is a state grant program that steps in when federal recovery funding is not available, and also for Pennsylvanians who may not qualify for federal aid. The Commonwealth says DRAP grants can be used for home repairs, temporary housing or rental expenses, and replacement of certain personal items.

What the money covers

For home repairs, DRAP can pay for direct disaster-related damage and related remediation. The official page lists:

• Entrances or exits to ensure safe access, but not improvements to the entrance or exit ways
• Disaster-related debris removal that creates a health, safety, or access threat
• Structural damage to the home
• Windows, doors, floors, walls, ceilings, or cabinetry
• Septic or sewage systems
• Well or other water systems
• Heating, ventilation, or air conditioning systems
• Utilities, including electrical, plumbing, and gas
• Blocking, leveling, and anchoring a mobile home, plus reconnecting or resetting sewer, water, electrical, and fuel lines and tanks
• Permitting and inspection

Amounts and matching
