How it works

The Housing Development and Beautification Program (HDBP) is an economic recovery program intended to increase the vibrancy of Canton’s Core Targeted Investment Areas and Neighborhood Priority Action Areas. The program’s purpose is to spur new in-fill housing construction, redevelopment of vacant homes and apartments, and major renovations to existing units to improve the building stock and expand housing options in the city.

Home Improvement Grant Type I is the exterior repair grant category. It provides grant assistance for visible exterior façade work that can be seen from the street.
