Program details
How it works
AEP Ohio’s HELP program provides energy-efficient products and services for residential customers in need. The program includes a free in-home energy assessment, a customized recommendations report, and contractor support throughout the process.
What the money covers
Depending on income level, eligible customers may receive low- or no-cost upgrades recommended by the assessment. The public page lists heating, ventilation and cooling equipment, water heaters, refrigerators and freezers, water-saving products, smart thermostats, air sealing and weatherization, lighting, and washers and dryers.
Timing and deadlines
AEP Ohio says HELP applications have been paused for 2026 and that the application will reopen in fall 2026 for 2027 program assistance.
Notes
The program supplements state and federal income-qualified weatherization programs, but it is a separate AEP Ohio offering on the utility’s site.
