Program details
How it works
The Make-A-Ramp® Program is sponsored by the Cortland County Office for Aging. The county purchases and owns modular aluminum ramp systems and installs them for short-term or long-term use. When a client no longer needs a ramp, it is removed, reconfigured, and installed for another person.
What the service covers
The ramps are described as modular aluminum systems installed to fit each person’s home. The county says the ramps meet ADA regulations and are installed in compliance with local code specifications. Site work is completed under a contract with the Cortland Housing Assistance Council.
Cost and funding
The county states there is no cost to the individual and no income eligibility requirements. Some funding comes from the New York State Office for the Aging and additional support comes from donations by ramp recipients, their families, and community organizations.
