How it works

The West Orange Housing Rehabilitation Program (WOHRP) is sponsored by the Township of West Orange as part of the Township’s Affordable Housing Program, as mandated by the State of New Jersey. Eligible township homeowners can receive assistance of up to $25,000 at 0% interest for home repairs. There are no monthly payments required. The loan is repaid, with no interest, when the home is sold or when title is transferred.

What the money covers

The page says the money is for home repairs, but it does not provide a full itemized scope for WOHRP on the webpage.

How to apply

Homeowners who want to apply must submit a Rehabilitation Program Preliminary Application as soon as possible to get on the waiting list. Applications are served in the order in which they are received.

The page also mentions the Essex County Home Improvement Program, which is separate from WOHRP. West Orange provides the county program’s applications at the Planning and Development office, but that program is not part of the township loan.
