Senior Home Improvement Grant Program

How it works

This is the senior version of Union County’s home rehabilitation program. The county says it is available to eligible Union County residents to assist with home rehabilitation and is administered by Development Directions, LLC.

What the money covers

The program is for home rehabilitation. The official page does not list every eligible repair in the senior-grant section, but it ties the grant to the same rehabilitation work described for the county Home Improvement Program, which includes:

• substandard heating, electrical, and plumbing systems
• structural repairs
• code-violation corrections
• lead-based paint remediation and stabilization
• energy-saving measures such as insulation, new windows, and storm doors

Amounts and repayment

• Maximum grant: $5,000
• The grant does not have to be repaid

How to apply

Applicants are instructed to call Development Directions, LLC to arrange an appointment. Program staff explain the guidelines, complete the application, and schedule property inspections.

Notes for homeowners

Union County later stated in a 2026 county publication that the senior home improvement grant cap had been doubled to $10,000, but the program page available here still states $5,000. Because the page itself is the official program page, the published amount on that page is recorded below.
