How it works

Gloucester County says its Housing Rehabilitation Program helps low- and moderate-income homeowners through emergency repair loans and deferred payment loan programs. The program’s purpose is to bring owner-occupied dwellings up to local and state building codes and improve livability and neighborhood conditions.

The county also says that grants must be used to remove health and safety hazards, while loans may be used to repair, improve, or modernize homes or remove health and safety hazards. The program is administered for the county by Triad Associates.

Amounts and matching

The county states a subsidy limit of up to $6,000 for mobile homes when there is an established urgent need where health and welfare are threatened, specifically where there is no heat and/or no running water. The public county page does not state a general maximum award for all applicants.

How to apply

The county page directs applicants to see the brochure and application materials and provides a contact for help with the application. Contractors are selected by the homeowner, and county payment is based on a reasonable cost threshold set by competitive proposals from at least three contractors.
