Orange County Home Repair Programs (Urgent Repair Program and Single Family Rehabilitation Program)

How it works

Orange County’s Housing Department runs two homeowner repair programs: the Urgent Repair Program (URP) and the Single Family Rehabilitation (SFR) program. Both are designed to help eligible owner-occupants make needed home repairs in Orange County.

What the money covers

• URP pays for emergency, urgent, and critical repairs that fix imminent threats to health and safety or provide accessibility modifications such as wheelchair ramps.
• SFR pays for larger, more comprehensive repairs to extend the usable life of the home.

Amounts and matching

• URP: maximum assistance is $10,000.
• SFR: the cost of rehab cannot exceed $40,000.
• URP assistance is a deferred, unsecured, zero-interest loan forgiven at $2,000 per year until the balance reaches zero.
• SFR assistance is a deferred, zero-interest loan forgiven over 10 to 20 years, depending on loan amount, until the balance reaches zero.

Applications are accepted by email, mail, or in person to the Housing Department.
