How it works

Forsyth County’s Housing Rehabilitation Program provides financing for rehabilitation of deteriorated homes that are owned and occupied by qualified households. The county says the program uses multiple assistance forms: grants, loans, deferred loans, and deferred-forgiveness loans.

Applications are accepted continuously on a first come, first to qualify, first served basis until funds are no longer available. Only fully complete applications are processed. If an application is incomplete, county staff attempt contact by phone and email if applicable; if there is no contact within 30 days, the file is made inactive and closed. If eligible, the homeowner is notified and placed on the wait list.

The county says homeowners cannot choose their contractor. Forsyth County uses a contractor list, and contractors bid on the work after staff prepare a work write-up.
