How it works

The Shasta County Air Quality Management District administers this voucher program in coordination with the California Air Pollution Control Officers Association and the California Air Resources Board. The county says the program helps residents replace a non-certified appliance with a new, cleaner-burning EPA Phase II heating device by issuing vouchers.

What the money covers

The official page says the program provides vouchers for purchase of eligible replacement heating devices. It is designed to reduce particulate matter and help the Air District maintain compliance with state and federal standards.

• Eligible applications can still be taken and placed on a waitlist in the order received in case additional funds become available

Notes for homeowners

This is an air-quality program, not a wildfire hardening grant. It can still help reduce home ignition risk only indirectly by replacing certain wood-burning appliances, but the official purpose is smoke reduction, not wildfire retrofit work.
