Truckee Fire Rebate Program

How it works

The Truckee Fire Rebate Program uses Measure T funds to reimburse homeowners after they rent a dumpster for yard waste and defensible-space work. The page says you must first pay for the rental, then submit a paid receipt from the Eastern Regional Landfill to Truckee Fire for reimbursement.

What the money covers

The rebate applies to the cost of a 6-yard green waste dumpster rental. The page specifically describes discounted six-yard dumpster rentals and says the rebate helps residents remove vegetation around their homes to create defensible space.

Amounts and matching

Truckee Fire reimburses 75% of the dumpster rental cost. The page does not state a dollar cap. It also says the rebate is available while funds last.

Timing and deadlines

The page says discounted six-yard dumpster rentals are starting early on April 1, 2026. Rentals are for one week, with TTSD delivering the dumpster on Wednesday and retrieving it the following Wednesday. The page also says rentals are available between May and October only, and that residents should reserve well in advance because availability is limited for the season.

How to apply

Call TTSD at 530-583-7800 to reserve a dumpster. For the rebate, provide a paid receipt from the Eastern Regional Landfill and then seek reimbursement through Truckee Fire. The page directs residents to the separate 6 Yard Green Waste Dumpster Rebate Program website for full details.

Use limits

The page says there is a maximum of two units per household and that only loose material may be placed in the dumpster; bagged yard waste is not permitted.
