How it works
Yolo County Fire Safe Council offers free high-quality reflective signs approved by CAL FIRE Lake Napa Unit and the Yolo County Fire Chiefs Association. The signs are meant to make homes easier to find in emergencies, including smoky conditions and nighttime evacuations.
What the program provides
The official page says signs are 6 inches by 24 inches, UV-resistant metal with white numbers. If needed, YCFSC can also provide signposts and hardware. In some locations, two separate signs may be created if one double-sided sign would not be visible from both directions.
Where it is available
The page says the program is for properties in the high fire areas of Western Yolo County, including areas west of Winters, Esparto, and communities throughout the Capay Valley.
Placement guidance
The page says signs should be visible for 100 feet in both directions of a road, mounted where headlights will illuminate them, placed near the driveway entrance, and kept clear of brush, weeds, and debris.
