How it works
MWPA says the Chipper Days Program offers free curbside pickup and disposal of excess vegetation from residential properties to help Marin County residents with defensible space. Residents cut, gather, and pile vegetation by the roadside, then a chipper visits to chip and remove it.
What the service covers
The program includes chipping and transportation of vegetation from properties within MWPA’s jurisdiction. MWPA says it also helps member agencies with vegetation management projects aligned with the program’s mission.
Amounts and matching
The service is free. The 2026 Chipper Day page says residents get six opportunities each year to have a portion of vegetation removed at no cost.

Residents must reserve service through the MWPA Chipper Days webpage and online pre-registration is required.

The program operates on a seasonal basis and is approved annually in MWPA Work Plans. The 2026 season was scheduled to run from April through November, with advanced reservations required.
