Residential Homeowner Programs / Virginia Conservation Assistance Program (VCAP)

How it works

The John Marshall Soil & Water Conservation District says it offers programs to assist residential landowners with conserving natural resources. Its Fauquier County homeowner page highlights the Virginia Conservation Assistance Program (VCAP), which provides financial incentives to non-agricultural landowners, including residential owners, for installing approved best management practices.

What the money covers

The Fauquier County page lists these eligible practices:

• Conservation landscaping
• Impervious surface removal
• Permeable pavement installation
• Dry wells
• Rainwater harvesting
• Vegetated conveyance systems
• Constructed wetlands
• Bioretention
• Rain gardens
• Infiltration basins
• Green roofs

The page says these practices can be installed on small-acreage properties.

Amounts and matching

The Fauquier County page does not state an award amount, reimbursement rate, or match requirement.

How to apply

The county page directs homeowners to the Virginia Association of Soil & Water Conservation Districts VCAP program for more information or to complete the Residential Conservation Assistance Request Form.

Timing and deadlines

The Fauquier County page does not state application windows, deadlines, or funding status.

Notes for homeowners

This is a conservation-stormwater program, not a wildfire-specific hardening grant. It may still help reduce runoff and improve site resilience, but the official page does not describe wildfire mitigation benefits.
