Energy Save & Earn Rebate

How it works

To participate, a customer must purchase and install a qualified product, complete the Rebate Application, review and accept the Terms & Conditions, and submit the application with all required supporting documents. HEC says rebates are sent to eligible customers after a complete application is received and processed.

What the money covers

Eligible products listed on the page are:

• Energy Star qualified clothes dryer
• Energy Star qualified clothes washer
• Standard water heater (40–50 gallon)
• Heat pump water heater (larger than 40 gallon)
• Central-unit heat pump, SEER 15/8.5 HSPF or greater
• Mini-split heat pump
• Energy Star qualified refrigerator
• Energy Star qualified chest freezer (larger than 10 cu ft)

The page also notes that the central-unit heat pump may replace an existing heat pump or be a retrofit of electric baseboard heat.

Amounts and matching

The page shown here does not state specific rebate dollar amounts. It does state that only major appliances are eligible, one rebate per appliance type per account holder is allowed, and the new appliance must replace an existing appliance. The old and new appliances must both be electric-powered.

How to apply

Applications must include all information requested on the Rebate Application, plus a copy of the sales receipt or invoice with required information and photos of the old name plates. Completed and signed applications with supporting documents may be submitted online, mailed to HEC Energy Save & Earn Program, 89 West Bruce Street, Harrisonburg, VA 22801-3699, or emailed to rebate@hbgelec.com.

Timing and deadlines

Eligible equipment must be purchased on or after November 1, 2020. Rebate Applications must be received within 90 days of purchase. HEC says rebate processing may take up to four weeks from receipt of a completed application, and that rebates will not be paid for ineligible or incomplete applications.
