How it works
The Louisville Metro home repair assessment describes WeCare as a voluntary program for income-qualified LG&E or KU customers. Customers receive a home energy assessment, health and safety review, energy education, and home weatherization services at no cost.
What the services cover
The assessment says homes are checked for gas leaks, carbon monoxide detectors, fire/smoke detectors, lead paint, and blower-door testing of the HVAC system. Depending on findings, customers may receive direct-install measures and deeper weatherization measures.
Eligibility and timing
The assessment says the customer must have received service from LG&E or KU for at least one month, the home must not have received WeCare services within the last 36 months, and income must be at or below 200% of the federal poverty level or eligibility can be shown through programs such as LIHEAP, Medicaid, SNAP, or HUD/Section 8. A signed property-owner consent form is required for renters.
