How it works

Shelby County’s Homeowner Rehabilitation Assistance Program uses grant funding to help eligible homeowners make basic home repairs and accessibility improvements. The official page says the money came from proceeds received by Shelby County Government from Wells Fargo Bank.

What the money covers

The listed eligible repairs are:

• Heating system repair
• Repair or replacement of a window air-conditioning unit
• Roofing repair, patching, and coating of an existing roof
• Repair or installation of wheelchair ramps and handrails
• Repair or replacement of windows, plus weatherization improvements
• Repair or replacement of exterior doors, plus weatherization improvements
• Replacement of insulation in attics, walls, and floors
• Replacement of hot water heaters

Applications can be obtained from and returned to the Shelby County Department of Housing at 1075 Mullins Station Road, Memphis, TN 38134. The page gives the office hours as Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
