City of Brentwood Monthly Brush Removal Service

How it works

The City of Brentwood Public Works Department provides a free brush removal service to residents on residential streets. The city says the mission is to help homeowners who live in the home and do routine trimming and pruning of their property landscape. Brush collection runs year-round, January through December, and each neighborhood is serviced once a month.

Homeowners must check the pickup schedule by street name or subdivision name and set material out on the curb during their assigned week. The city specifically says to have the pile out by Sunday evening of the assigned week. If a homeowner misses the assigned week, the city will not backtrack and the material will not be collected until the following month.

What the service covers

The service accepts brush and yard waste from homeowner maintenance, including leaves, grass clippings, and small brush clippings placed in paper bags. The city also says it will remove Christmas trees from the day after Christmas until mid-January. The program is described as free to residents and the city says it costs roughly $500,000 annually to operate.

Important limits

This service is only for work the homeowner did themselves. The city says it will not pick up contractor piles or debris from commercial landscaping services or any third party. If a contractor does the yard work, the contractor should remove the debris and the hauling cost should be included in the quote.

The city also says piles should not be placed in HOA common areas or HOA-owned property, should not be split into many small piles along the property line, should not be under a tree or power line, and should not be more than 10 feet from the curb. Homeowners are told to make one large pile on their own property in a safe location, either out front or on the side.

Convenience centers

If a homeowner misses pickup or has additional brush after the monthly route, the city says local convenience centers will accept small brush piles. Those piles must be level with the flatbed of a pickup truck and no longer than 3 feet in length. Larger pieces should be taken to the Williamson County Landfill at 5750 Pinewood Rd, Franklin, TN.

Timing and deadlines

The service is year-round and collected once per month. The page also notes Christmas tree pickup from the day after Christmas until mid-January. The current route schedule shown on the page lists week-by-week dates and says once the route is complete, the city will not return until the following month.
