Oconee County Conservation Bank Board

How it works

The Oconee County Conservation Bank Board (OCCB) was established to protect Oconee County lands with significant natural, cultural, and/or historic resources by providing a financial incentive to willing landowners. The incentive is tied to a land transaction: the owner conveys either a conservation easement or fee simple title, where that transaction also includes a conservation easement, to eligible recipients.

What the money covers

The official page describes a conservation program, not a residential hardening program. It does not say the grant pays for wildfire mitigation or home retrofit work such as defensible space, vents, roofing, siding, or other structural improvements.

How to apply

Applicants must complete and file the Application for Funding. The page says applicants are encouraged to review the OCCB authorizing ordinance, Policies 001 and 003, and the Grant Agreement before filing. Applications may be submitted by email to councilclerkinfo@oconeesc.com or dropped off at the Clerk to Council’s office at Pine Street Administrative Complex, 415 South Pine St., Walhalla, SC 29691.

Timing and deadlines

The application deadlines listed on the page are April 1st, August 1st, and November 1st.
