Program details

How it works

The Coos County Noxious Weed Control District Advisory Board provides assistance through grant funding to control noxious weeds in Coos County. One initiative is the Cost-Share Program, which helps landowners control noxious weeds on their property.

What the money covers

  • Up to 40% of the cost of the negotiated price of herbicide and surfactant.
  • The landowner is responsible for the cost of the application.
  • The program is focused on targeted noxious weeds, called “T” list weeds.

Targeted weeds

  • The “T” list weeds are noxious weeds designated by the Board and are the focus of the herbicide cost-share program.
  • These targeted weeds are species from either the A or B noxious weed lists that are the focus for prevention and control within the county.

Timing and deadlines

  • Funding is available every year when the Advisory Board has funding.
  • Each year, the Advisory Board reviews the list of Targeted Weeds and recommends it to the Board of Commissioners for adoption.
  • The Advisory Board takes suggestions and requests information through a survey during the cost share event.

How to apply

  • Participate in the cost-share event and complete the required training.
  • Be willing to provide feedback through the survey.
  • Questions can be directed to NWAB@co.coos.or.us or 541-396-7770.

Notes for homeowners

This program is a weed-control cost share, not a direct home-hardening rebate. It may still help reduce flammable vegetation around a property if the weeds on the site are among the county’s targeted noxious weeds.
