How it works

Home Energy Performance is the NHSaves residential weatherization program. It starts with a home energy audit, then a utility-approved contractor prepares a work proposal, the improvements are installed, and a quality control inspector reviews the project.

What the money covers

The program is for weatherization and efficiency improvements. NHSaves says eligible services can include air sealing, insulation, and other approved energy-efficiency updates. The page also says the program includes access to established contractor relationships and low-interest financing.

Amounts and matching

NHSaves says the program can provide savings of up to $6,000 in rebates on overall improvement costs. The page also says the program covers up to 75% of project costs, up to $6,000.

How to apply

NHSaves says to sign up through its weatherization intake, and you will need your home's conditioned square footage, your heating usage for the past twelve months, your heating fuel source, your utility provider, and your ZIP code.

Timing and deadlines

NHSaves says you should wait until you have the fuel-use history required for qualification. The program is currently offered through the utility partners' residential weatherization page.

Extra option for income-qualified Eversource customers

If you are an Eversource customer and your household income is at or below 100% of the State Median Income, you may qualify for an enhanced Home Energy Assistance offering that covers 100% of the cost to weatherize.
