How it works

The City of Raytown Board of Aldermen approved the Sump Pump & Back Flow Valve Assistance Program to help property owners remove private storm water from the public sanitary sewer system and reduce the potential for sewer backups in private residences and buildings.

What the money covers

The program may reimburse installation of equipment designed to remove private storm water from the sanitary sewer system and/or a backflow prevention valve designed to reduce the chances of sewer backups.

Amounts and matching

• Assistance may be a partial or whole reimbursement
• Public Works staff provide a pre-approved amount for qualified expenses
• If the job costs more than the city assistance limit, the owner pays the difference
• Reimbursement depends on available funding in the Public Works Department budget

How to apply

4. A release authorizing inspection of the private sewer lateral
5. If the owner is not doing the work, three itemized quotes from licensed plumbers
6. City review of the quotes
7. A city building inspector inspection before the work is covered/closed out
8. Paid itemized receipts and the inspection sheet submitted after completion
