The page says residents should clearly display their assigned 911 address number so responders can find the home in an emergency. It summarizes Scott County Ordinance 060627 (Section 7) with these rules:

  • Structures and residences within 50 feet of the roadway: the assigned number should be displayed on the front of the residence near the door or entry.
  • Structures or residences more than 50 feet from the roadway: the assigned number must also be displayed on a post, fence, wall, mailbox, or similar structure at the property line next to the walk or access drive.
  • The number must contrast with the background color, be at least three inches high, and be visible from the roadway at all times of the year.
  • Only the assigned number should be displayed; remove any number that could be mistaken for it.
  • Residents are requested to post their assigned number and road name near their telephone for emergency reference.
