Net Metering

How it works

Net metering is a billing mechanism that credits solar energy system owners for electricity they add to the grid. If a residential customer has solar panels that generate more electricity than the home uses during daylight hours, the meter can run backward and create a credit for electricity used later when the home needs more power than the system produces.
