How it works
Pacific Partnership’s Facade Grant Program is a matching grant for exterior rehabilitation and improvements to eligible commercial and mixed-use structures in the City of Pacific’s Downtown District. The page says approved projects are eligible for a dollar-for-dollar matching grant of up to $2,000 per building.
What the money covers
The official page describes the program as helping with exterior rehabilitation of eligible buildings. It also says the primary goal of the Downtown Facade Investment Project is to remove accessibility barriers, facilitate investment, and achieve significant visual improvements in commercial facade appearance. Projects that meet that goal are preferred.
The page lists examples of eligible improvements, including:
- appropriately scaled window areas for display or looking into a retail, restaurant, or service business, with lighting for night viewing
- restoration or replacement of original materials and decorative detail on historically contributing or significant buildings, or removal of elements covering architectural details
- window replacement and window treatments visible from the street
- landscaping features such as window boxes, planters, or trellises
- signs that are attractively integrated into the building architecture
- new or repaired awnings or canopies
- cleaning, repainting, or residing of buildings if consistent with the design guidelines
- skim coating or painting previously painted brick surfaces
- exterior wall repair, plastering, and painting
- cleaning and repointing of brick and other masonry repair
- restoration or rehabilitation of the exterior facade, including door and window replacement or modifications
- repair of non-original materials that cannot be removed because of deterioration of underlying original materials
- repair, replacement, or addition of entrances, doors, display windows, transoms, or second-story windows
- exterior improvements for disabled access, including ramps, doors, door openers, walks, guardrails, no-slip materials, or level platforms at doors, as long as ADA standards are met
- other improvements not listed
The project narrative must include the improvements to be made, building materials and colors to be used, proposed timeline for completion, detailed cost estimates for each project, total grant money requested, and how the proposed improvements will positively affect downtown character, business use, architectural assets, historical integrity, and overall investment in the building.
