How it works

Sherburne County says its Housing Trust Fund provides a low-interest rehabilitation loan program for county homeowners with moderate to very-low income. The program is meant to help pay for property-owner repairs that replace or repair failing or faulty systems that are a hazard, danger, or otherwise unsafe or unsanitary, plus energy efficiency upgrades/replacements and necessary accessibility accommodations.

• Failing deck or porch repair/replacement
• Radon mitigation
• Mold remediation
• Asbestos remediation

• Energy efficiency work such as window replacement with Energy Star windows, heating system replacement, central air conditioning replacement, water heater replacement, light fixture replacement, insulation/attic air sealing, solar panels for secured incentive-rate energy conservation loans only, and heat recovery ventilation or energy recovery ventilation systems

Amounts and matching

The county page does not state a dollar cap, interest rate, or match percentage. It does say homeowners must have already applied to Minnesota Housing home improvement programs for their rehabilitation project before they qualify for the county program.
