Oakland SAVES Grant Program

How it works

Oakland County announced Oakland SAVES as a $5 million grant program, in partnership with Michigan Saves, to help households make energy-saving home improvements. The county said applications were open and that the program would help at least 1,000 households in Oakland County.

What the money covers

The county listed these eligible upgrades:

• Attic insulation
• Air sealing
• Door weatherstripping
• Duct insulation
• ENERGY STAR doors
• ENERGY STAR windows
• ENERGY STAR water heaters
• ENERGY STAR air conditioners
• ENERGY STAR furnaces
• Building code or health and safety improvements associated with installing energy-efficient upgrades

Amounts and matching

The county described two grant tiers:

• Tier 1: up to $5,000 for income-qualified households
• Tier 2: up to 20% of a sustainable home improvement, capped at $3,000, for any Oakland County household

Timing and deadlines

Oakland County said the program would be available until 2025-12-31 or until funds are exhausted.

How to apply

The county said homeowners could apply through Michigan Saves or by phone.
