Program details
How it works
The City of Salisbury has partnered with Habitat for Humanity of Wicomico County and Salisbury Neighborhood Housing Services to perform critical repairs on owner-occupied homes within the city corporate limits. The city says these nonprofits are the subrecipients that administer the application and award process and carry out the repairs.
The city also says this is not an emergency repair program. It cannot be used for emergency assistance because of the requirements of the federal grant that funds it.
What the money covers
The city’s page describes the work generally as “critical repairs.” A related city notice says the housing repair program may include roof replacement, gutter replacement, sump pump installation, bathroom replacement, window replacement, HVAC replacement, plumbing repairs, electrical repairs, structural repairs, and accessible improvements such as grab bars, door widening, and entrance ramp installation.
The city notice also says the work is intended to prioritize critical repairs and may not bring the home up to code standards.
Funding source
The program is funded through the City of Salisbury’s PY 2024 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding.
