How it works

Jefferson Parish maintains an Assisted Evacuation Assessment Registry to help it estimate the number and needs of parish residents who may need public assistance during an evacuation. The page says the registry is for assessment and informational purposes only.

What the service includes

Registering does not generate a call or pickup from Jefferson Parish during an evacuation. The parish says registrants remain personally responsible for using the public transportation system to reach one of the parish pickup points for evacuation out of the danger zone.

The page also states that you will not automatically be picked up in the event of a mandatory evacuation. When the publicly assisted evacuation plan is activated, government officials will announce on television and radio the phone numbers to call and the locations of pickup points for citizens to use.

How it works during an evacuation

• Eastbank pickup point: Joe Yenni Bldg., 1221 Elmwood Blvd, Jefferson, LA 70121.
• Westbank pickup point: Alario Center, 2000 Segnette Blvd, Westwego, LA 70094.
• Evacuees with mobility limitations and/or a disability that prevents them from using the JET buses must call the phone number that is released to schedule a pickup.
• All others must go to one of the published bus stops for transportation.
