How it works
The Louisiana Department of Insurance says Regulation 136 requires insurers to provide premium discounts for residential properties that obtain a FORTIFIED designation under standards developed by IBHS. The department issued Bulletin 2026-04 to notify insurers, and the discounts are applicable to the hurricane portion of the premium.
Amounts and matching
The benchmark mitigation discount table shows the following residential hurricane-only premium discounts effective January 1, 2027:
- North: FORTIFIED Roof 16%, Silver 20%, Gold 24%
- Central: FORTIFIED Roof 27%, Silver 35%, Gold 42%
- South: FORTIFIED Roof 29%, Silver 43%, Gold 49%
How it applies
The page says insurers are directed to implement the discounts no later than January 1, 2027. The exact discount can depend on zone and FORTIFIED level.
