Kentucky mandated premium discount or rate reduction for FORTIFIED homes

How it works

Kentucky’s Strengthen Kentucky Homes Act requires property insurance companies to provide a premium discount or rate reduction for properties certified as complying with applicable FORTIFIED Home or FORTIFIED Multifamily construction standards under certain circumstances.

What it covers

The law is aimed at stronger homes that resist losses from catastrophic weather events. The official bill summary says the program was paired with a state grant program and that the insurance provisions apply to policies and contracts issued or renewed on or after March 1, 2026.
