Kansas Wildfire Recovery Initiative Cost-Share Assistance

How it works

The Kansas Department of Agriculture’s Division of Conservation announced a wildfire recovery cost-share initiative for landowners affected by February 2026 wildfires. The initiative was approved by the State Conservation Commission and uses $151,000 in KDA–DOC financial assistance.

What the money covers

The official notice says the funds are for:

• cover crops
• temporary watering facilities
• temporary electric fence

Amounts and matching

• Up to $5,000 in cost-share funding per landowner.
• The notice does not state a required match percentage.

How to apply

• Applications must be made through local Conservation Districts.
• Eligible applications are approved first come, first served until funds are allocated.
• Projects already started but not completed before application may still be eligible if receipts are kept and KDA–DOC specifications are followed, if necessary.
