How it works

The Unified Government says it has secured a Brownfields Assessment Grant from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to address brownfields in the community and leverage resources. Applicants that qualify for funding may receive a Brownfields grant for environmental assessment of contamination.

The official page describes funding for environmental assessment of contamination. It does not list a dollar amount, matching requirement, reimbursement method, or a homeowner-specific hardening scope.

Who the program is for

The page says priority is given to projects that incorporate:

• Urban agriculture
• Public infrastructure improvements
• Workforce development
• Access to high-speed internet

Timing and deadlines

The county’s financial-assistance page does not state when the program opens or closes, whether it is currently accepting applications, or how to apply.

Important note for homeowners

This is a redevelopment/environmental-assessment program, not a clearly documented residential disaster-hardening grant or service. I am including it only because it is an official Wyandotte County program on the county’s current incentives page.
