How it works

Get Alarmed is a statewide smoke-alarm installation campaign run by the Indiana State Fire Marshal. The program page and related state announcement say Indiana’s initial grant-funded launch supported 10,000 smoke alarms, and the state press release says homeowners can receive up to three free smoke alarms. The official page also notes that inventory has been fully distributed at times, and IDHS is working to resupply it.

How to apply

Homeowners do not apply directly to a statewide portal; they request alarms through their local fire department. Fire departments can also submit requests to participate in the campaign and receive alarms for local installation efforts.

Timing and deadlines

The program is ongoing, but the state notes inventory availability can change because alarms are distributed until stock runs out. The official page says the campaign has already distributed all of its smoke alarm inventory at one point and was waiting on resupply.
