Emergency Home Repair Grant

How it works

The City of Bloomington’s Department of Housing and Neighborhood Development (HAND) provides an Emergency Home Repair grant to respond to needed repairs with the goal of restoring the health and safety of the home. HAND manages the project from start to finish: it develops the scope of work, puts the work out to bid, and establishes the contract with a contractor. HAND inspects the work for approval before making payments to the contractor.

What the money covers

The grant covers all costs associated with the repairs, including labor, supplies, and materials.

The grant amount is up to $7,500.

How to apply

Applicants submit the completed application and requested information to City of Bloomington HAND at Showers City Hall, Suite 130. The brochure says grant funds are available on a first-come, first-serve basis and are contingent on available funds.
