Program details
How it works
The Wildland Fire Education Program (WFEP) offers free home evaluations to homeowners living in the wildland-urban interface. The page says the program began in response to intense wildland fires in 2000 and is part of Three Rivers RC&D’s wildfire education work.
During the evaluation, the Wildland Fire Educator and team members visit the home and provide suggestions to make the property more Firewise. The page says evaluations take between 30 minutes and 1 hour.
What the money covers
This is a free service, not a cash benefit. The page describes a home evaluation and Firewise recommendations, not reimbursement for property work.
How it applies to homeowners
The page also mentions canvassing in the wildland-urban interface and providing Firewise educational material and information on free wildland home evaluations.
Timing and deadlines
The page says WFEP hires local college students every summer to help with RedZone surveys, free home evaluations, and canvassing. It does not give a deadline or application window for homeowners.
