How it works
The Office of Energy and Mineral Resources says WRIP invests in projects so Idaho’s electric utilities can monitor, mitigate, and mobilize against disruptive wildfires. The page says the program launched in September 2025 and that eight projects were awarded in November 2025 to begin in early 2026.
What the money covers
The example project list includes weather stations, vegetation management, reclosers, undergrounding of overhead distribution lines, SCADA-enabled breakers and relays, fire-resistant mesh wrap on distribution poles, avian-deterrence devices, drone AI analysis, and expansion of right of way.
