How it works

IIAGP is Iowa’s state disaster assistance grant program for households affected by a governor-declared disaster. The program is activated only for counties covered by a disaster proclamation, and applicants have 45 days from the date of the governor’s proclamation to apply.

What the money covers

The official program page says eligible disaster-related needs must fall into one of four categories: temporary housing, food assistance, personal property, and home repair.

Amounts and matching

For disasters declared after July 1, 2024, each eligible household may receive up to $7,000. The page does not state a matching requirement.
