Hawaiʻi’s statewide home energy rebate program is planned to help residents with appliance and whole-home upgrades, but it is not a wildfire hardening program. The official page says it is still pending federal approval and will be fully available in late 2026.

How it works
The Hawaiʻi State Energy Office says eHALE is its residential energy rebate program for homeowners and renters. The program has two pathways: Whole Home Energy Savings (HOMES) and High-Efficiency Electrification Home Rebates (HEEHR).
What the money covers
The official page says HEEHR rebates can apply to qualified electrification appliances and/or materials, including:
- Energy Star-certified heat pumps for space heating and cooling
- Energy Star-certified heat pump water heaters
- Electric breaker boxes
- Electric wiring
- More qualifying measures
Timing and status
- The page states the program is currently pending U.S. Department of Energy approval for launch.
- It says the pathways will be fully available for Hawaiʻi residents in late 2026.
- Residents will not receive rebates for measures done before the official launch.
Notes for homeowners
This is a statewide incentive program, but it is aimed at energy efficiency and electrification, not natural-disaster home hardening.
