Program details

How it works

Thomasville Community Development Corporation (TCDC) says its Neighborhood Assistance program is designed to help residents within the Traditional Neighborhoods URA improve their neighborhoods from within. Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis and are evaluated quarterly, subject to available funding.

The Home Improvement Assistance Grant is one of the neighborhood improvement options. TCDC says eligible homeowners can obtain up to $1,500 for health and safety improvements to their homes. The organization also says these funds are stackable with other USDA and local foundation funds.

What the money covers

The official site describes the grant generally as supporting health and safety improvements. On its application page, TCDC lists examples of services applicants may request at home, including smoke/CO2 detectors, a fire extinguisher, non-slip flooring/strips on ramps or stairs, grab bars, elevated toilets, lighting improvements, a ramp/hand rail, and a digital thermostat. The page also includes an energy audit request option.

Timing and deadlines

Applications are accepted ongoing and reviewed quarterly, but the site does not give a fixed annual deadline. The program page says support is subject to the availability of funding.

Important note for homeowners

TCDC says the program is for residents within the Traditional Neighborhoods URA in Thomasville, Georgia. It is a local neighborhood program, not a countywide or statewide program.
