Paint and Hurricane Shutter Program

How it works

Miami-Dade County provides assistance to homeowners of single-family detached homes in the county for two weather-hardening-related services: exterior painting and accordion hurricane shutter installation. The program is offered on a first-come, first-served basis, and approvals depend on available funding.

If approved, the county places a lien on the home. The lien term is 5 years if the applicant receives only one service and 10 years if the applicant receives both services. The county says the lien depreciates by 20% over the 5-year term and by 10% over the 10-year term.

How to apply

Applicants must complete the Paint and Shuttering Program application and send it to Miami-Dade Community Action and Human Services Department, Energy Programs Division, 701 NW 1st Court, 11th Floor, Miami, FL 33136. Applications may be submitted in person or by mail, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
