How it works

The Neighborhood Residential Façade Improvement Grant Program is funded by the City of Tallahassee Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) and administered by the City of Tallahassee’s Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Affairs and Community Housing and Human Services Departments. Tallahassee Lenders’ Consortium, under contract with the City, manages implementation of the program.

What the money covers

Grant funds are awarded only for exterior repairs that result in a significant improvement or enhancement of a home’s exterior. The page lists eligible exterior improvements such as:

• replacement, upgrades, or construction of new porches
• gutter and downspout repair or replacement
• exterior lighting
• driveway installation or repairs
• repair, replacement, or removal of fencing
• exterior painting
• landscaping and irrigation installation, with a cap of no more than $1,500
• pressure washing or soft washing
• replacement or repair of shutters, railings, wood rot, columns, posts, eaves, and soffits

• Maximum grant funding: $10,000 per housing unit

• Any such arrangement must be memorialized in the Contractual Obligation document and the Grant Commitment Letter
• Payment of the applicant’s share must be made at the signing of the Grant Commitment Letter and must be done with certified funds
