How it works
The county’s Home Replacement Program is for homes in unincorporated Leon County that are beyond economical repair. If the cost of rehabilitation is expected to exceed the county’s threshold, Leon County can help demolish the existing home and reconstruct a new one.
Amounts and structure
The county says funds are made available to individual homeowner applicants through deferred-payment, forgivable, noninterest-bearing loans.
When it applies
The county states the replacement path applies when the cost of rehabilitation is expected to surpass 50% of the value of the home, or 30% for homes 50 years or older.
