Leon County Home Rehabilitation / Emergency Home Repair Program

How it works

Leon County’s Housing Rehabilitation / Emergency Home Repair program awards funds to eligible homeowners in the unincorporated areas of Leon County when a home has a serious problem that needs to be fixed right away. The county says the assistance is usually provided as a deferred-payment, forgivable, noninterest-bearing loan, although grants for minimal temporary repairs may be provided.

What the money covers

The county’s official page lists emergency home repairs such as:

• a damaged or leaking roof
• damaged windows exposing the home to the elements
• electrical problems
• plumbing problems
• septic problems that could damage the home
• repairs to remediate an immediate health hazard to the occupants

The page also says the related Home Replacement Program can pay for demolition of an existing home and reconstruction of a new home when rehabilitation would cost too much.

How to apply

The county opens online applications for the Home Rehabilitation / Replacement and Emergency Home Repair programs during its application cycle and reviews them under program guidelines. Housing Services staff also offer appointment help for applicants who need help completing an application or uploading documents.

Timing and deadlines

The county’s page says applications will be accepted beginning at 10 a.m. on December 3, 2025, and will continue until enough applications are received to use the available funding.

The county says homeowners inside City of Tallahassee limits should contact the City of Tallahassee for emergency repairs on non-mobile-home dwellings.
