How it works
The City of Port St. Lucie’s Neighborhood Services Department administers housing programs and says it leverages grants to fund city projects and neighborhood programs. Its Housing Programs page lists the Homeowner Repair & Rehabilitation Assistance Program as an active city housing program.
The city’s 2026 announcement says the program is funded through the State Housing Initiatives Partnership (SHIP) program, with funding provided by the Florida Housing Finance Corporation, to help income-eligible homeowners complete critical home repairs.
What the money covers
The city’s public materials say the program helps with health, safety, and energy-efficiency repairs at a primary residence in Port St. Lucie. A prior city notice also says eligible repairs include correcting code violations, weatherization, roof, plumbing and electrical improvements, and septic systems.
Timing and application status
The Housing Programs page says the city opened the 2026 pre-application list at 9:00 a.m. on February 18, 2026 and closed it at 9:10 a.m. after reaching the maximum number of 100 submissions. The city’s news post says the list would close once 100 applications were received.
Amounts
The city’s 2025 notice said eligible residents could apply for funds of up to $50,000.
How to apply
The city says applicants should contact Neighborhood Services for assistance. The city page and news post direct residents to the city housing page and the department for program updates.
