Free CERT training and related home-safety outreach
Sebastian County’s Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program provides free preparedness training that helps residents protect homes and respond to disasters. The county says CERTs have also been used to install smoke alarms and replace batteries for elderly residents.

How it works
The county’s FAQ says CERT training gives participants a better understanding of threats to their home, workplace, and community so they can take steps to lessen the effects of hazards. It also says CERT members can help with non-emergency projects that improve community safety.
What the service includes
Sebastian County says CERTs have been used to:
- distribute and/or install smoke alarms
- replace smoke alarm batteries in the homes of elderly residents
- distribute disaster education material
- provide support at special events
